Far beyond sculpting, shaping, or reconstructing the body, plastic surgery for Ricardo Silveira—Full Member of the Brazilian Society of Plastic Surgery (SBPC), the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), and the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS)—is about promoting well-being, health, and making a meaningful difference in people’s lives.
From a very young age, a passion for the medical field held a central place in the life of plastic surgeon Ricardo Silveira. The dream of studying at a public university stemmed not only from its academic excellence and international recognition, but also from the fact that attending a private institution would require a financial investment he could not afford. In addition, becoming the first physician in his family would be a great source of pride for his relatives and, for many years, became a true personal goal.
Highly dedicated to his studies, this achievement became reality in 1995, when he began his medical degree at the renowned University of São Paulo (FMRP-USP). “With the support of everyone around me, I graduated. I was certain that, in some way, I would make a difference in improving people’s well-being,” he recalls.
Choosing plastic surgery was a natural process for the physician. Still during medical school, he took part in scientific research projects and clinical rotations at major hospitals affiliated with the University. After completing his medical degree, he was accepted into the surgical residency program at the Hospital das Clínicas of the Ribeirão Preto Medical School, University of São Paulo (HCFMRP-USP). Following two years of comprehensive training across all surgical specialties, Ricardo was ready to choose the field that would define his professional career. For him, this decision was closely connected to his family’s natural aptitudes, which he describes as deeply rooted in artistic expression.
